Trivett Wingo Leaves The Sword, All Tour Dates Cancelled

On the heels of the cancellation of their European tour, Austin, TX’s The Sword are also regretfully canceling the remainder of their scheduled US dates due to the departure of their drummer, Trivett Wingo. The split is amicable and both Trivett and the rest of the band wish each other the best of the luck with their respective plans. The Sword are already working diligently to reschedule their European and US dates.

Bändillä olikin hommat aika isollaan, kun ois ollut Metallican lämppäämistä. Helppo kyllä ymmärtää rumpalia, että ennemmin lähtee bändistä kuin soittelee Metallican yleisölle. Ketään ei kiinnosta kuitenkaan (Ei ollut lähdön oikea syy. Kai.)

Haulla en löytänyt tästä tai muista ketjuista juttua Ramessesin (-ksen?) uusimmasta, Take the Curse. Misanthropic Alchemy toimi ja toimii edelleen hyvin, joten ajattelin kysäistä mikä on lautalaisten mielipide tuosta kakkosesta? Pari biisiä olen siltä kuullut eivätkä hirveästi vakuuttaneet, mutta kokonaisuus saattaa olla kuitenkin kelvollinen. Tyyli kuulosti jotenkin... erilaiselta, ei niin raskaan ruhjovalta kuin MA:lla. Särmikkyys oli kuitenkin se, joka ekalla kokopitkällä minuun vetosi. Joten mitäpä tuumataan, onko hankinnan arvoinen, mitä hä?

Three-quarters of KYUSS — the influential American stoner rock/metal band, originally from Palm Desert, California — will reunite for a European tour under the moniker KYUSS LIVES. Olivieri, Bjork and Garcia last played together when they reunited this past June for an appearance at the Hellfest, which took place in Clisson, France. Nick and Brant joined John on stage to perform the songs "Gardenia" and "Green Machine" during a headlining appearance by Garcia's GARCIA PLAYS KYUSS project. Video footage of that performance can be viewed below.

Since KYUSS, Garcia's musical projects include SLOBURN, UNIDA and John's most recent band HERMANO, plus side projects with THE CRYSTAL METHOD, DANKO JONES and countless others who embraced the singer from the Southern California desert.

KYUSS, the inventors of Desert Rock, have been in the last ten years much more popular than when they were still around in the early Nineties. So, due to massive public demand over the years to play songs from his old cult band KYUSS, John finally made the decision to give the fans what they want.

The last couple of years John Garcia thought often about reviving his KYUSS legacy on stage. The more he thought about it, the more he really wanted to do this. John commented: "I don't want to do this just for myself, but especially for the fans. Both for the ones that have seen KYUSS live back in the days, and especially for the ones who haven't had that chance. This could be as close as they could get to the real thing. Please bear in mind that this could be a one-off unique opportunity!"

John Garcia (born in San Manuel, Arizona, September 4, 1970) is a vocalist who has been a member of KYUSS, SLO BURN, UNIDA and HERMANO. His vocals have become synonymous with modern stoner rock and the desert rock sound. While still in high school, Garcia help start KYUSS (originally known as SONS OF KYUSS) in 1989 with guitarist Josh Homme. The band produced five albums in total, all of which featured Garcia on vocals.

In October 1995, just three months after releasing what could be argued as their breakthrough album "...And The Circus Leaves Town" (thanks to MTV airplay), KYUSS broke up. Their last recording was a 10" vinyl on the now-defunct label Man's Ruin Records, which was later re-released on a split CD with Homme's QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE. The band has been on an indefinite hiatus ever since and has reached a legendary status, influencing thousands of new young rock bands.

Tuli Eyehategodilta "Confederacy of Ruined Lives" - platta ostettua. Pörisee kyl hienosti ja vakuutti taas että kyseessä on yks Sludgen kovimmista nimsitä. (Kyseisen levyn sisäkannessa oleva 'southern nihilism front' oli myös mitä mainioin.) Bongzillaa ja Alabama thunderpussya ois hyllyyn myöskin tarkoitus metsästää jahka ehtii.

Kaikki levyt haltuun vaan! Jokaiselta löytyy aika omanlaistaan materiaalia, eikä yksikään tuota pettymystä. "Pillars" toki kenties se ultimaattinen teos tähänastisista, mutta ihan "Dilemmantrauma" 2x7":sta asti bändillä on ollut selkeä visio musiikistaan eikä tyhjäkäyntiä pahemmin ole ollut.

Boris julkaisee ensimmäisen virallisen live DVD:n "Live in Japan". Southern Lordin kappale tulee ulos 18.1.2011.

Keikka on kuvattu Daikanyama Unitissa 14.12.2008, eli kyseessä on Smile-kiertueen lopetuskeikka. Borishan kävi samaisella kiertueella toukokuussa myös Helsingissä ja Turussa. Niinpä DVD:llä on Michio Kurihara toisessa (vai kolmannessa?) kitarassa.

Sleestak vaikuttaa ihan hyvältä Hellriden arvion ja parin Myspacesta kuunnellun näytteen perusteella. Ainakaan aamukahvi ei maistunut yhtään huonommalta tämän soidessa taustalla. Ei missään nimessä kuitenkaan kovinta parhautta, mutta kotisivujen mukana uusi levy on tuloillaan, joten nimi täytyy painaa mieleen. The Marshall Plan -kappaleesta tulee eniten mieleen 35007 ja ehkäpä myös Isis.

Wow, who places a weird Spacerock synth effect four sickingly heavy Stockholm-style Death Metal chords into what could have been an Entombed opus? Alternately, what group of musicians transition into an extended spaced-out Stoner Rock jam in the middle of what could have clearly been a Dismember song… about astronauts coping with existential, cosmic loneliness?
