LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Guns N' Roses will play three private shows in Brazil and Argentina during the band's current tour of South America, the organizer said on Monday.

The shows are set for undisclosed locations in Sao Paulo on Thursday and Buenos Aires on March 20. Plans are also in the works for a show in Rio De Janeiro.

Organizer Jamison Ernest said each venue will hold about 150 people. He declined to reveal too much information for fear of riots by uninvited guests. He will co-host the Sao Paulo show with Brazilian model Ana Beatriz Barros.

The 11-date tour, the band's first trek around the continent since its heyday in 1992, began on Sunday in Brasilia. Dates are on tap through April 1 in Quito, Ecuador. The band will also play Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Venezuela and Colombia.

Ernest, a friend of Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose, also runs a clothing company and has a band, both named Yellow Fever. Guns N' Roses previously played three secret shows, two in New York City and one in London.

Rose is the only remaining member left from the band when its popularity peaked during a decade spanning the 1980s and 1990s. The other members were either ousted or quit. Even though its 2008 album "Chinese Democracy," its first release in 17 years, was a major flop, the band remains a strong concert draw.

Rose and his new crop of bandmates were last in Brazil to play the Rock in Rio festival in January 2001.

Lisää schaibaa vanhoista aiheista; Slash on ihan samaa mieltä tuosta täälläkin kauhistuttaneesta t-paitajupakasta kuin mie -vähän huudellaan ja läpi menee.
SLASH: 'Chinese Democracy' Was 'Exactly What I Thought It Would Sound Like' - Mar. 12, 2010

Jane Stevenson of the QMI Agency conducted an interview with former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash earlier today (Friday, March 12) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

On the reports about his former bandmate Axl Rose banning fans wearing Slash-related T-shirts and top hats from the current GUNS N' ROSES tour:

"I give him the benefit of the doubt.

"I hate to think someone would be that petty, so it might be more of a rumor.

"There is a little bit of infighting between fans now, too. There's like GUNS fans who support the Axl thing and then there's GUNS fans who support the Slash thing. And God knows where it originated.

"We (Slash and Rose) obviously haven't actually sat together and talked so there's definitely some bad blood there but at the same time it's been, you know, 15 years and I don't like to perpetuate the negative stuff because I don't really have the kind of harsh feelings for him that the media exaggerates."

On the sound of GUNS N' ROSES' long-awaited release, "Chinese Democracy", released after a near 15-year wait:

"I thought it was exactly what I thought it would sound like.

"It was very indicative of what I thought he would do. So it was absolutely no surprise. 'Cause we had sort of like the GUNS N' ROSES sound, which was just a straight-ahead rock band, and along the way Axl started to get very sort of techno, or had a lot of techno influences. And when I say that I mean like synthesizers and a lot of digital influence. And, of course, we sort of kept an old-school approach, and I think besides everything else musically, we sort of went off in different directions. And this record of Axl's is definitely very digital and very Pro Tools and very synthesized — whatever sounds are augmented by outside sources."

Draamaa tuntuu Gunnari-leirissä aina riittävän:
Hollywood Reporter wrote:May 18th, 2010

Axl Rose slams Irving Azoff in $5 million countersuit

By Eriq Gardner EXCLUSIVE: Axl Rose says his former manager tried to implement a scheme to force him to reunite with the original Guns N' Roses band members and, as part of the plot, failed to properly promote the "Chinese Democracy" album, lied about a prospective Van Halen super tour and mishandled the band's tour dates.

The claims are part of a bombshell countersuit filed yesterday against Irving Azoff's Front Line Management. In March, Azoff sued Rose, claiming the rocker violated an oral agreement to pay 15% of earnings, or nearly $2 million, from a lucrative concert tour.

Not since the G'N'R song "Get in the Ring" has Rose struck back at a foe so forcefully, alleging antitrust concerns about Front Line's parent company, Ticketmaster, to drive home a major claim that his former manager is up to no good in the music business.

Azoff, is CEO, director and majority shareholder of Front Line, whose roster of artists include the Eagles, Neil Diamond, Jimmy Buffett, Christina Aguilera and John Mayer. In 2008, Front Line was acquired by Ticketmaster.

Rose claims that through Azoff's control of the "trifecta" of artist management, concert and touring promotion, and ticket sales, Azoff has been able to gain wide influence and power in the music industry. Azoff allegedly decides what artists he wants to promote through favorable touring deals and uses his power to punish artists and harm their careers if they don't follow his orders.

When informed of the myriad allegations in the countersuit, Azoff's lawyer Howard King quipped to us: "He didn't accuse Irving of being on the grassy knoll in Dallas on November 22, 1963?"

The countersuit invokes the U.S. Justice Department's recent antitrust lawsuit that sought to stop a proposed merger between Ticketmaster and Live Nation over concerns about the new entity having too much control over artists and venues. Afterwards, Ticketmaster entered into a consent decree with government regulators to allow the merger to continue under certain operating provisions.

Axl's counter-complaint says that Azoff is violating the consent decree by coercing and bullying artists to do what he wants.

What Azoff wanted, the rocker says, was the reunion of Guns N' Roses. To execute this, he would sabotage Rose and his new band so that Rose would have no option but to reunite.

According to the filing, "Upon realizing that he couldn't bully Rose and accomplish his scheme, Azoff resigned and abandoned Guns N' Roses on the eve of a major tour, filing suit for commissions he didn't earn and had no right to receive."

Further, Axl says the botched tour cost him money in production startup and rehearsal expenses. Claiming breach of fiduciary duty, constructive fraud and breach of contract, the singer wants at least $5 million in damages.

The cross-complaint was filed by Skip Miller and Sasha Frid at L.A.'s Miller Barondess.

After forty years, twenty-eight ODs, three botched suicides, two heart attacks, a couple of jail stints, and a debilitating stroke, Steven Adler, the most self-destructive rock star ever, is ready to share the shattering untold truth in "My Appetite for Destruction".

When Adler was eleven years old, he told his two closest friends he was going to be a rock star in the world's greatest band. Along with four uniquely talented — but very complicated and demanding — musicians, Adler helped form GUNS N' ROSES. They rose from the streets — primal rockers who obliterated glam rock and its big hair to resurrect rock's truer blues roots.

They were relentless rock stars, onstage and off, taking "sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll" to obscene levels of reckless abandon. By the late 1980s, GN'R was the biggest rock band in the world, demanding headlines, awards, and sold-out shows, with one of the greatest rock albums of all time: "Appetite for Destruction". But there was a price to pay. For Adler, it was his health and his sanity, culminating in a brutal banishment by his once-beloved musical brothers. Adler digs deep, revealing the last secrets, not only his own but GNR's as well: Slash's betrayal, Axl's unpredictable temper, and Duff's revenge. He bares it all with this shocking fuck-the-fates exposé that charts his meteoric rise and devastating collapse.

Adler was humiliated and disgraced when Axl Rose kicked him out of GN'R in front of an MTV audience of millions. Adler plunged into the dark side, spending most of the next twenty years in a drug-fueled hell. But he finally beat his epic addiction to crack and heroin under the care of Dr. Drew Pinsky.

With Adler's newfound clarity comes a fierce determination to tell it all. Revelatory, heartbreaking, hilarious, and ultimately inspirational, you will never read anything more jaw-droppingly honest than "My Appetite for Destruction".

Steven Adler will sign copies of "My Appetite for Destruction: Sex, and Drugs, and Guns N' Roses" at Bookends in Ridgewood, New Jersey on Wednesday, July 28 at noon.

Bookends

"My Appetite for Destruction: Sex, and Drugs, and Guns N' Roses" will be released on July 27 via HarperCollins. The 304-page hardcover book is available for pre-order for $25.99 at the HarperCollins.com web site.

The other members of GUNS N' ROSES band threw Adler out in 1989, saying his drug use was harming his performance. In 1993, the band agreed to pay him $2.3 million to settle Adler's lawsuit claiming a 1990 agreement by which he gave up his interest in the band was read to him and signed without his attorney present.

Re: Adlerin kirja

Post by Jussi »

Aina siitä reunionista joku, yleensä Steven, jaksaa vuodesta toiseen hekumoida. Mutta myös Sorumilta yllättävää spekulointia:
Sorum told The Pulse of Radio a while back that if the original band reunites, they should perform with both him and Adler. "If it's me on drums or Steven or whatever, if it happened, it'd be great, you know," he said. "I would actually say to them, 'Hey, bring both of us back,' you know. Let me play the other stuff. We'll have two drum kits. I don't care. If 'Appetite' ['For Destruction', the band's debut] sounds better with Steven playing it, have both guys up there. They can afford it."
Mutta näin tuli tuumattua Adlerin uutukaisesta kirjasta toisaalla:
Jussi wrote:Melkein vastoin odotuksiani, tämä viime talvesta asti puffattu Steven Adlerin tell-all-biografia My Appetite For Destruction: Sex, Drugs And Guns N' Roses onkin aivan hyvä. Lienee haamukirjoittajan ansiota.
Taitaa myös (kuvakrediittien perusteella jäljittäen) mennä aiemmin aiheesta ylistetyn Marc Canterin valokuva/aikakausikirjan ansioksi, miten kaikki detaljit menevät enemmän oikein kuin Slashin kirjassa, jos tarkastellaan varhaisia vaiheitaan ja esiastebändeissä olemisiaan, kuka soitti milläkin keikalla, jne. Mitkä tietysti kaikki omaan tapaani tarkistaisivat toinen kirja kädessään, sitä mukaa kun faktaväitteitä tulee vastaan. 8)
