http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/pentag ... -liebling/

As was the case for the recently completed U.S. shows, legendary U.S. heavy/doom metal band PENTAGRAM will play its previously booked European tour dates this summer without frontman and founding member Bobby Liebling.

PENTAGRAM explains in a statement: "Bobby called on April 17 saying he had been admitted to the hospital. He called again on April 19, this time after being transferred to a Maryland detention facility. He's now awaiting a preliminary hearing at which time it will be determined if a follow-up on any alleged charges are necessary. An update will be published when information is available. The band will be fulfilling all currently booked appearances with 36-year mainstay guitarist Victor Griffin performing all vocals."

Legendary U.S. heavy/doom metal band PENTAGRAM will play its previously announced four U.S. shows at the end of April without its frontman and founding member Bobby Liebling. All lead vocals at the gigs will be handled by PENTAGRAM's guitar player Victor Griffin.

Griffin, bassist Greg Turley and drummer Pete Campbell have released the following statement regarding Liebling's absence from this week's gigs:

"Due to circumstances that are beyond anyone's control, that are a direct result of Bobby Liebling's personal actions, he is unfortunately unable to appear alongside PENTAGRAM for the spring string of East Coast concerts. The four dates affected are April 20th - Baltimore, MD, April 21st Richmond, VA, April 22nd New York City and April 23rd, Cambridge, MA.

"PENTAGRAM will be fulfilling these dates and our obligation to the fans and many people who've put time and money into setting up these gigs. We ask that you come out to celebrate this band's legacy and music with us. The full live set performed will consist of classics and fan favorites. Our legendary and iconic guitar player and songwriter Victor Griffin will be performing the live vocals. The band will be available before and after the show for meet-and-greets, photos and questions. We look forward to seeing you at the shows!

Report: Pentagram’s Bobby Liebling Arrested for First-Degree Assault of a “Vulnerable Adult Family Member”

Earlier today, Pentagram announced that they’ll soon be touring Europe without renowned vocalist Bobby Liebling — their second set of shows as a trio, following four performances last month. The band’s statement on the matter was confusing to say the least; the group claimed that Liebling was in “a Maryland detention facility” and “now awaiting a preliminary hearing at which time it will be determined if a follow-up on any alleged charges are necessary,” but they didn’t specify what those alleged charges were.

An anonymous reader tip has now provided an answer to that mystery, and… well, it blows.

According to public records from the Maryland Judiciary, Liebling was arrested on April 10 for first-degree assault, one count of physical abuse of a “vulnerable adult,” and two counts of abuse against a “vulnerable adult” who is also a family member. All four charges are from the same date and were, presumably, against the same vulnerable family member.

Pentagram’s Bobby Liebling Sentenced After Pleading Guilty to Abuse/Neglect of a Vulnerable Adult-Custodian

Pentagram vocalist Bobby Liebling, 63, has been sentenced after pleading guilty to charges of Abuse/Neglect of a Vulnerable Adult-Custodian, believed to be his eighty-seven-year-old mother, Diane Liebling. The singer was first arrested this past spring.

Assuming I’m reading these court documents correctly, it would appear that Liebling entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor, which resulted in his pleading guilty to the abuse/neglect charge, but pleading not guilty to a first-degree assault charge.

Earlier this month, Judge David A. Boynton sentenced Liebling to eighteen months in the Montgomery County Detention Center, minus time already served; upon release, Liebling will be on probation for three years.
