Toimiipas hyvin tämä uusi levy jo ihan ensikuulemalla. Mukavan monipuolinen uuden ja vanhan yhdistelmä kuitenkin painottuen sinne old school rockiin.

Queeniin assosioitava Fred Mandel) soitti Flush The Fashionilla '80 Cooperin bändissä, tai millä albumilla sessiorumpaleiden legenda Kenny Aronoff on Alicella soittanut, jne.

The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, jne.

Heavy rockiin tai power metalliin suuntautuva kirja edellyttäisi a) joko pirun hyvää aihetta ja tulokulmaa tai b) kokonaisen genren kattamista, mikäli kyseessä on pelkkään triviaan perustuva tietokirja, jotta sillä olisi edes teoriassa kaupallista potentiaalia. Omakustanteena voi toki tehdä kirjan vaikka Kane Robertsin treeniohjelmasta.

Hyvästä aiheesta läytyy esimerkkinä Alice Cooper, Golf Monster: A Rock 'n' Roller's Life and 12 Steps to Becoming a Golf Addict.

http://www.guitarheads.org/guitar/jpg/e ... dition.pdf

Kirjailija koetti sittemmin päivittää teosta joukkorahoituksen tuella. Ei onnistunut. Hanketta tuki 23 innokasta fania.

Jeps näin on; enkä mie oikeastaan muita kirjoja luekaan. Paras KISSikin esimerkiksi on mulle Behind The Maskin albumi albumilta & kappale kappaleelta -puolisko, juuri sen halutunlaisen tiedon vuoksi.

Just niin, ja Behind The Mask on tosiaan hyvä esimerkki kirjasta, jossa on valtavasti tietoa.

Samaan tyyliin kuin Mick Wallin mainiot Kerrangissa alun perin julkaisut tarinat on kirjassa Appetite for Destruction. Esipuhe, alkup. haastattelu ja jälkisanat. Muistan monta hyvää juttua 1980-luvulta, joissa oli sopivasti kansainvälistä säihkettä mutta ainakin yhtä paljon viinanhajuista kotimaista näkökulmaa.

ALICE COOPER To Release 'A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris' In August

July 5, 2018

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/alice- ... in-august/

Following the release of the 2017 studio album "Paranormal", which was the best chart-performing album by Alice Cooper in decades, the American rock legend took his exciting live show all over the world, accompanied by "the best band he has ever had."

After an entire year spent on the road, the "Paranormal" tour ended in Paris on December 7, 2017 at the world renowned Olympia, a theatre that is iconic in the truest sense of the word.

The Olympia, since opening in 1888, has witnessed changes in entertainment and pop culture for 130 years from the can-can through Édith Piaf to Johnny Hallyday and the Beatles and now... Alice Cooper!

This 90-minute rock show is a journey through Alice Cooper's timeless creations: classics like "Poison", "School's Out" and "No More Mr. Nice Guy" are alternated with hand-picked gems for the joy of true Cooper connoisseurs like "Pain", "Woman Of Mass Destruction" and "Paranoiac Personality", the first single from the album "Paranormal".

The album captures a rock 'n' roll show at its peak and is one of the best live releases by Alice Cooper, featuring his longtime band guitarists Nita Strauss, Tommy Henriksen and Ryan Roxie, bassist Chuck Garric, and drummer Glen Sobel in front of an excited audience.

The album will be released on August 31 on earMUSIC as 2CD digipak, 2LP gatefold (white and red LP), and digitally.

In July 2017, the artist released "Paranormal", his first studio album in six years. Produced by Bob Ezrin, it was immediately saluted as a classic Alice Cooper album, featuring collaborations with iconic guests such as ZZ TOP's Billy Gibbons, U2's Larry Mullen, Jr. and DEEP PURPLE's Roger Glover, as well Neal Smith, Dennis Dunaway and Michael Bruce — the three original Alice Cooper band members.

The album charted at #4 in the German and Australian official album charts, #6 in the U.K. and in Sweden and overall, it reached the highest chart positions for Alice in several decades.

ALICE COOPER Documentary 'Live From The Astroturf' Capturing Original Band's 2015 Reunion To Premiere At PHOENIX FILM FESTIVAL

February 13, 2019

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/alice- ... -festival/

According to Rolling Stone, the documentary/concert film "Alice Cooper: Live From The Astroturf" will premiere this April at the Phoenix Film Festival before the film embarks on the film festival circuit.

In October 2015, Alice Cooper reunited with the surviving members of the original lineup of his band to with bassist Dennis Dunaway, guitarist Michael Bruce and drummer Neal Smith for the first time since 2011, when they staged a pair of performances coinciding with their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as well as their appearance on Cooper's "Welcome 2 My Nightmare" LP. Guitarist Ryan Roxie, a member of Cooper's current band, stepped in for original member Glen Buxton, who died in 1997.

Cooper, Dunaway, Bruce, Smith and Roxie performed a blistering set on a small stage of pink astroturf at independent music store Good Records in Dallas, Texas, 40 years after the band parted ways. Store owner Chris Penn pulled off the near-insurmountable task of organizing the event and keeping Alice's appearance a secret until the original shock-rocker hit the stage.

In addition to the in-store performance captured by eight cameras and mixed by Bob Ezrin, the documentary also features interviews with the members of the Alice Cooper band and those who made the show possible.

A recording of the show was initially released as a "Record Store Day" exclusive in 2018.

ALICE COOPER Is Once Again Collaborating With Hitmaker DESMOND CHILD

July 17, 2020

https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/alice ... ond-child/

Grammy-winning and Emmy-nominated songwriter-producer Desmond Child, who is widely recognized as one of music's most accomplished hitmakers, has revealed that he is working on new music with legendary rocker Alice Cooper.

This past Wednesday (July 15), Desmond took to his social media to write: "SCHOOL'S OUT FOR THE SUMMER! Alice Cooper and I are cooking up a ginormous, poisonous anthemic masterpiece for next year. So exciting to work with the rock genius & visionary Alice Cooper again. Remember our album TRASH? Listen to it from start to finish now. Sounds like we just recorded last week... it's eternal like Alice. Stay tuned for more updates!"

Child and Cooper previously collaborated on 1989's "Trash" album, including the smash hit "Poison", and the follow-up effort, 1991's "Hey Stoopid". The success of "Poison" helped make "Trash" Alice's biggest seller in more than a decade.

In a recent interview with Rock For Relief, Cooper said: "'Poison', probably next to 'School's Out', is the biggest song in [our live] set. That song might have been a bigger international hit than 'School's Out' even.

"When I first heard some of the songs [Desmond] was doing with BON JOVI and AEROSMITH and Joan Jett and everybody, I said, 'I like that, but I need it darker and sexier.' And that's when 'Poison' came out."

ALICE COOPER Completes Work On 'Detroit Stories' Album

May 27, 2020

https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/alice ... ies-album/

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper has completed work on his new album,
"Detroit Stories". The LP, which was once again produced by Cooper's
longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin, features contributions by such
Michigan talent as the MC5's Wayne Kramer, GRAND FUNK RAILROAD's Mark
Farner and Johnny "Bee" Badanjek of MITCH RYDER & THE DETROIT WHEELS.
They also used the Detroit Horns and Detroit background singers.

"Every Detroit player, I don't care how hard rock they are, how punk
they are, there's a little bit of R&B in it, because it's Detroit,"
Cooper, who was born in Detroit as Vincent Furnier and moved to
Phoenix as a child, told the Arizona Republic. "It's in the DNA."

Cooper said that there's no release date yet for "Detroit Stories".
"There's nobody saying, 'Oh, you have to have it done by blah blah
blah,'" he said. "The whole world is on hold right now [due to the
coronavirus pandemic]."

Earlier in the month, Alice released a new single, "Don't Give Up".
Produced by Ezrin using remote technology, the song is a spontaneous
reaction to the challenges facing us all right now.

A strictly limited "Don't Give Up" seven-inch vinyl picture disc will
be released on August 14 on earMUSIC.

Speaking to SiriusXM's Ozzy's Boneyard, Alice stated about how "Don't
Give Up" came together: "The funny thing was Bob Ezrin and I and Tommy
Henriksen did an album called 'Detroit Stories', and it's all about
Detroit, because that's [my former] hometown. And I decided all
Detroit players — Wayne Kramer, Mark Farner; all these guys — will
either write or be on the album or sing on the album, but all the
songs are about Detroit also. And so the song was called 'Hanging By A
Thread', and it was a bit of an anti-suicide song. We're all hanging
by a thread, but just don't step off the ledge. Hang in there. And Bob
called up and said: 'That song is done. You've already done 'Hey
Stoopid', which is an anti-suicide song.' He says, 'Why don't we turn
this into what's going on now?' And he says, 'Keep the B section of
the chorus,' he says, 'but let's take the verse and you talk it and
just write something poetic that's encouraging.

"The idea that I had on it was that we're a lot tougher than this
disease," he continued. "We're the blood and guts of the human race.
Does it scare us? Yeah. But are we gonna be [too] scared [to move
forward]? Hell no. We're gonna live through this. And the whole idea
was just don't step off the ledge. Some people are already suicidal,
and then this comes along, and this is gonna push 'em off the edge.
And I'm just saying don't step off the edge."

Cooper's latest release — the six-track "Breadcrumbs" EP, described as
a tribute to the garage-rock heroes of his hometown of Detroit — was
released in September via earMUSIC.

Alicen uusi single, ensimmäinen tuolta Detroit Storiesilta on Lou Reed/Velvet Underground cover :| en minä nyt ihan tätä odottanut, ylläolevan perusteella.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmkf57yffT0
BM wrote:“Rock & Roll”: A Detroit Story…

Alice Cooper releases “Rock & Roll” today as a first taste of the sound and fury we can expect from the upcoming studio album “Detroit Stories”, coming February 26th, 2021 on earMUSIC.

“Rock & Roll”, a classic song by The Velvet Underground from the album “Loaded”, is not a casual choice: It´s a song of joy and celebration of that magical moment when we all first turned on Rock and Roll radio …and it saved our lives.

Have a listen: Maybe it will save yours too!

Here are some interesting Detroit Stories for the fans of rock and roll trivia and for those who believe that nothing happens by chance (especially in Detroit).

In 1971, the Alice Cooper Group was working in Detroit, with producer Bob Ezrin.
Around the same time, also in Detroit, a band called… Detroit, which featured Mitch Ryder, Johnny Bee and Steve Hunter, recorded a heavy new arrangement of Lou Reed’s “Rock & Roll” also produced by… Bob Ezrin.
It was when he heard that version that Lou Reed decided to work with Ezrin on the follow-up to his monster hit album “Transformer”. Their collaboration produced the seminal and fascinating classic album “Berlin”.
But wait: There is more!
Steve Hunter, the amazing guitar player who created the iconic main riff that drives Detroit´s cover of the song in 1971, ended up working with Ezrin on many of his productions. He toured and recorded with Alice and with Lou Reed as well…and that same riff is the backbone of this new recording of the song which was done in…Detroit, of course.
Alice Cooper and Lou Reed shared a relationship of mutual respect and friendship over the years. Bob and Lou collaborated several other times and were dear friends for 40 years.
Alice and Bob can’t remember how many albums this is and have been creative partners for 50 years.

Listen to Alice’s powerful new version of Lou Reed’s “Rock & Roll” featuring Johnny “Bee” Badanjek (Detroit Wheels), Steve Hunter (Detroit), Paul Randolph (legendary Detroit jazz and R&B bassist) and special guests Joe Bonamassa and Tommy Henriksen (for this occasion, crowned “Honorary Detroiters”) here: https://alicecooper.lnk.to/RocknRoll

“Detroit Stories”, Alice’s upcoming new album, is a celebration of the sound and spirit of the Golden Era of Detroit rock.

"Detroit was Heavy Rock central then,” explains Alice, “You’d play the Eastown and it would be Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, the Stooges and the Who, for $4! The next weekend at the Grande it was MC5, Brownsville Station and Fleetwood Mac, or Savoy Brown or the Small Faces. You couldn’t be a soft-rock band or you’d get your ass kicked."

“Los Angeles had its sound with The Doors, Love and Buffalo Springfield,” he says, “San Francisco had the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. New York had The Rascals and The Velvet Underground. But Detroit was the birthplace of angry hard rock. After not fitting in anywhere in the US (musically or image wise) Detroit was the only place that recognized the Alice Cooper guitar driven, hard rock sound and our crazy stage show. Detroit was a haven for the outcasts. And when they found out I was born in East Detroit... we were home.”

50 years later, Alice and Ezrin have united in Detroit with their Detroit friends to record “Detroit Stories”, Cooper’s new album.

If 2019’s “Breadcrumbs” EP laid down the trail to the city, “Detroit Stories” drives like a muscle car right down Woodward Ave.

Discover Detroit Stories as they were meant to be told.

“Detroit Stories” will be available on CD, CD+DVD Digipak, CD Box Set (including CD, Blu-ray, T-shirt, face mask, torch light and 3 stickers), and 2LP Gatefold on February 26th 2021 on earMUSIC.

And since he won’t be able to tour for a while, Alice asked us to include a DVD and Blu-ray of the incredible last show of the Paranormal tour, (“A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia in Paris”), for the first time available on video.
With all concerts being cancelled or postponed, and the world still facing the Covid 19 pandemic at home, Alice Cooper asked us to bring the show to you… until we can celebrate the joy of Rock and Roll together again!
